Bus Driver gets Charged

The other day I wrote about a local bus driver who purposely chased and ran over an 18 year old boy killing him.

I was very happy today when I heard on the radio that the bus (jitney) driver is expected to be arraigned this morning on a manslaughter charge. Good.

You can't go around killing people with your vehicle and getting away with it. Then again, if you decide to rob a bus, expect that the driver ain't gonna take it either.

Late yesterday afternoon, the incident that had initially been classified as an accidental death, was confirmed by ASP Glenn Miller, head of the Central Detective Unit, that police intend to charge the driver of the jitney with manslaughter.

Bus Driver Plows into Man

I was shocked when I heard this horrifying news on the radio today.

Yesterday at about 11am in the area near the 'Seagrape Shopping Centre' on Prince Charles Drive, a bus driver chased a man on foot with his jitney and plowed him into a wall, trapping him underneath which lead to his death. The man who was on foot apparently had attempted to rob the bus beforehand. The departed has been identified as Elton Rufus Butler of Union Village who was killed on his 18th birthday.

The police have classified this incident as an accidental death, pending further investigations.

Cable Bahamas goes Off Line

Two days ago the cable provider for The Bahamas, aptly named Cable Bahamas, went off line during their system upgrade which caused a lot of inconvenience to many Bahamian businesses due to the fact that their websites were down.

Cable Bahamas is the only cable provider throughout The Bahamas islands and because of this they control the industry. Not only do they provide cable television, but they are also Internet Service Providers (ISP) and therefore offer a data center where many local Bahamian companies have their online data stored.

Yesterday they were contacted many times so that we could find out what the trouble was. Their official statement was "We are aware of the problems." Well No Shit! You are the one's who created the problems in the first place because you did not have a contingency plan.

They were never able to give a time when their service would be up and running again, because they had no idea. I was informed by one of my friends who happens to be a CEO of a local web design company with many Bahamian clients, said that one of the guys at the top of Cable Bahamas, Tony Butler said (and I may be paraphrasing this), "I don't care. You want to leave us? Go."

Nice attitude Tony. Nice attitude Cable Bahamas. Way to go!

Today many Bahamian online businesses were still suffering because of the lack of care and lack of preparation by Cable Bahamas. A little after half way today I received my email and since then they have not gone off line. I have my fingers crossed in hopes that they will not go down like this again. If they do I will have to show up on their door step with a shotgun.

Palin 2012 T-shirts

I came across this web page full of T-shirts and other designs promoting the Sarah Palin for President 2012. There are also merchandise from the McCain Palin ticket in 2008. Have a look and order your favourite ones. I'm going to put in an order myself for a Palin 2012 T-shirt and cap for fun.

The New US President

I did not stay up last night to find out which way America was going to vote. I was still in need of sleep since I had not had enough from the weekended, so I went to bed 'early' and relaxed with the tube.

When I awoke this morning and changed the TV station to NBC where I watch 'The TODAY Show' every morning, I must admit that I felt a little sick when the words were uttered, "America elects the first black President in it's history."

It's not like it was a shock or something; I had a pretty good feeling that Barack Obama would be elected to 'Commander and Chief' even with having been in the senate for such a short time, but I was still hopeful that that would not be the case. Maybe I was a little afraid of change myself.

I guess that I will just have to sit back and see what this man is actually going to do. I can tell you one thing, he had better do a lot of 'change' or the people will not be happy with him; but then again that's politics and every politician says things which sound good to get in but never do everything they promise.

America Votes!

What is going to be the outcome of who America votes in to be their Commander & Chief? Will it be the P.O.W John McCain and his running mate 'Hockey Mom' Sarah Palin? Or will it be the 'Black Hussein' Obama and his 'Stunning White Teeth' counterpart Joe Biden? It's a 50/50 split race right now and anything can happen.

I saw this morning on the way into the office, The Tribune had as it's title "Obama Grips The Bahamas" and he has. Barack has spoken and a lot of people have listened, but a lot of the black community are just going to vote for him because he is black himself. No one should vote, or not vote for someone because of the colour of their skin.

The majority the people of The Bahamas are black and think this way and that is how I know that if Barack Obama wins, this place is going to go ape wild!

If there is such a problem with McCain being the oldest candidate to run for the Presidency along with a woman from Alaska no one ever heard of before, or to have a black man lead the country with a man who has been flip-flopping all over the place, why not elect the third choice?

Who is the third choice?
Why Ralph Nader of course!
